LIZ REEVES

ABOUT ME...

I am Liz Reeves a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist. Since graduating from Reading University in 2007 I have worked for the NHS with hundreds of children and their families to develop their communication skills.  I set up Budding Communicators to allow me to be able to offer 'more' to the families I work with: more time, more choice and more progress.

I am a mum of two young children and believe therapy should be fun and as much a part of every day life as possible. I love making children laugh and never go far without a pot of bubbles. 

I have extensive experience supporting children with the following:

  • Speech Delay and Disorder

  • Language Delay and Disorder

  • Autistic Spectrum Condition

  • Stammering

  • Dyspraxia

  • Parent-child interaction and early play development

  • Non-verbal and late talking pre-schoolers

  • Social/pragmatic difficulties

  • Phonological awareness difficulties 

 

I have had additional training to enable me to offer the following therapy:

Hanen's: 'It takes two to talk'  for parents of children with language delay.

'More than words' for parents of children with social communication difficulties.

Learning language and loving it (for early years practitioners.)

Our youngest faced a few challenges during the pregnancy and has been a slower developer post-natal. He is a bit smaller than others, he was pretty late walking and his speech was slower to develop. After discussing options with staff at the Nursery for assistance with his speech Liz was recommended to us. Liz is very personable and easy to talk to and evidently very knowledgeable. She suggested a number of methods for engaging our son in language, through simple repetition and games we could do at home and make routine. She also came and spoke to nursery staff with us to support their approach and get some consistency with the things we were trying at home. His speech is really improving and we are really grateful for Liz’s input and ideas to try things we wouldn’t otherwise have thought of. Hugely appreciated!
